Alison is the founder and owner. She started Grace Flowers Hawaii in 2012 from an extensive background in floral and horticulture. Born and raised in Hawaii, she has been designing flowers professionally since she was 13 (that's not counting the lei sold by the side of the road starting at age 9...we don't talk about that). She started working as a florist at one of the Kohala coast resorts and ended up managing that flower shop, which instilled the desire to operate a shop of her own. 10 years later here we are!
Having moved from the mainland (Seattle) to Hawaii a few years ago, Nicole brings over 15 years of floral design experience from a wide variety of flower shops, studio florists and a floral wholesaler specializing in working with local farms and growers. At Grace Flowers Hawaii, she is one of the managers as well as the media coordinator. Her passions (better known as obsessions) are floral art, ferns and moss and learning about new flowers and foliages.
Originally from Massachusetts, Missy moved to the Big Island in 2008. She's the mother of 3 beautiful children and joined the Grace Flowers team in the beginning of 2017. As our administration manager, she handles the constant influx of emails, inquiries, quotes and questions. As a lover of all things glitter, she brings the sparkle to the team.
Born and raised on the Big Island, Kamaehu is our shop's assistant manager. He had a very early start in making lei and lei po'o, with his grandmother as his biggest influence. Flowers and plants have always been a large part of his life. Here at Grace Flowers Hawaii he wears many hats including floral design, lei as well as wedding set up.
Shannon is a longtime member of the Grace Flowers Hawaii family (and Alison's sister). Born and raised on the Big Island, she is our designated head lei maker. She brings a great work ethic and a lifetime of lei-making experience to the team, and her two adorable daughters help brighten up the shop on a regular basis!
Ryan Higgins (aka Higgs) is the Jack-of-all-trades here at Grace Flowers Hawaii. From construction projects, computer work, and he has recently started floral design. He was born and raised in Hawaii and enjoys hiking and hitting the beach in his free time. Ryan's passion is music and he's currently writing songs for his 2nd album. You can find his music here: www.higgsmusic.com
Originally from Oregon, Joyce has lived in Hawaii for the last 35 years. She's been a lifelong gardener and even used to work at Alison's parents' nursery when Alison was a child. Since then she has raised 3 kids and
has started her own farming operation.
Her passion for all things living make her an invaluable asset to the business.
Lisa is one of our invaluable staff members keeping our shop, inventory, and staff organized. Lisa also has her hand in making lei. Mother of two, one of which is our other staff member, Julia! She is a ray of sunshine at the shop, dishing out love and hugs everywhere she goes. In her downtime Lisa takes care of two dogs, her bunny, and plants. Her passion is anything purple, ladybugs, and unicorns.
Julia is our head delivery and set up staff, making lei to boot. Like her mom, Julia rocks the shop with her organization skills. Working whenever she isn't taking courses and studying for her double major in criminology and history. In her downtime she loves hitting the beach with friends, reading or playing video games. She always bring a hard working aesthetic to the shop.
Ku`uleiu`iheleialohiokalani is a born and raised Big Island native. They juggle all sorts of tasks at Grace Flowers Hawaii, joining our team in 2019. From designing florals, customer service, and shop organization she always has her hands full. Life long artist, drawing since they could hold a pencil, Ku`ulei dabbles in graphic design and illustration. (she designed our amazing stickers!) In their downtime she is interested in herbalism and has her own thriving garden at home.
Carrie is another one of our delivery staff, setting up weddings and events. When she is in shop she also handles customer service, answering phones, and taking orders. Originally from Wisconsin, Carrie and her family moved to Hawaii during 2020. Mother of 5, she loves going to the beach, hikes, animals, and sunshine.
Nathan is on our delivery staff. He handles everyday deliveries, wedding/event set ups, as well as event breakdowns. When he's not out, he is our main bucket washer, keeping our side room clean and tidy. In his downtime he enjoys fashion design and a wide variety of pop culture.
Lori, Mother to owner Alison, Shannon, then triplets, Ryan is one of the triplets that also works for us. Husband Mike, and Lori operated a plant nursery in Waimea for many years. She started working at the flower shop 2022, head of customer service and handles office work. She will most likely be the one your emailing in our orders. She grows and orders plants, we sell them here at the shop! She is beyond happy to work with her children and darling grandaughters too. She is grateful for our amazing staff and customers.
Last but definitely not least is Alison's father, Mike who handles most of the construction projects which includes everything from new arches to tiered centerpieces vessels to farm tables. Besides those projects he also spends his afternoons chasing Alison's little nieces around the shop.
